Editorial Policy
Should I Swap is committed to providing accurate, transparent, and unbiased cryptocurrency rate comparison data. This page explains our editorial standards, data sourcing methodology, content review process, and conflict-of-interest disclosures.
What We Publish
Our content falls into two categories:
- Tool data — Real-time and historical cryptocurrency conversion rates, calculated from publicly available market data. This data is mathematical and objective.
- Educational content — Blog articles, guides, and FAQs that explain how crypto pair rate comparisons work, what the signals mean, and how to use the tool effectively.
What We Do Not Publish
- Financial, investment, or trading advice
- Personalized recommendations for specific trades or swaps
- Price predictions or future performance forecasts
- Sponsored content presented as editorial (all sponsored content, if any, will be clearly labeled)
- Content that uses urgency framing to pressure users into action
Data Source
All cryptocurrency market data displayed on Should I Swap is provided by CoinGecko, one of the world's largest independent cryptocurrency data aggregators. CoinGecko aggregates data from hundreds of exchanges worldwide.
Prices are fetched in real-time from CoinGecko's API on our servers. Your browser never communicates directly with CoinGecko or any exchange.
Calculation Methodology
Our rate comparison signals are based on transparent, reproducible mathematics:
- Conversion rate: Calculated as the ratio of two cryptocurrencies' USD prices (e.g., BTC price / ETH price = how many ETH per 1 BTC)
- Historical average: Computed using the average-of-ratios method over the selected time period (7, 14, 30, 90, 180, or 365 days). This method calculates the daily ratio first, then averages the ratios — avoiding statistical bias from the alternative ratio-of-averages approach.
- Signal determination: If today's rate is more than 2% above the historical average, the signal is "Above Average." More than 2% below is "Below Average." Within 2% is "Near Average."
No proprietary algorithms, machine learning models, or subjective analysis are used. Every signal can be independently verified using the same public data from CoinGecko.
Content Review Process
All educational content published on Should I Swap goes through a multi-step review:
- Drafting: Content is written following our brand voice guidelines — beginner-friendly, educational, and data-driven.
- Legal compliance review: Every article is checked to ensure it does not contain financial advice, recommendation language, urgency framing, or misleading claims.
- SEO review: Content is reviewed for keyword relevance and search intent alignment.
- Accuracy check: Any claims about how the tool works or what data shows are verified against the actual codebase and data sources.
